A Knight's Retreat: Embracing Hand-Drawn Creativity

Client: Self-Initiated

Like a grand chess master orchestrating a Halloween-themed rave, the Mabs’ Drawlloween 2023 prompt list sets the stage for a delightful array of hand-drawn figures, each monster uniquely positioned on the dance floor of creativity. These whimsical and spooky characters groove across the squares of imagination with the precision of well-crafted dance moves, capturing the playful essence of Halloween through expressive lines and muted colors.

From mischievous ghosts that float and twirl like unpredictable ravers to charming pumpkins bobbing steadily to the beat, each figure embodies the spirit of the season with its own signature dance style. They invite viewers to engage in a visual spectacle where fun and fright intertwine, much like the strategic choreography of a monster mash on the dance floor.

This collection represents a creative gambit, opening up new possibilities in the exploration of Halloween themes. Like a DJ mixing tracks, each illustration brings these figures to life, ready to inspire and entertain all who encounter them at this festive monster ball.

The opportunity to step back from the digital turntables of computers and engage in the tactile strategy of drawing by hand offers a welcome change of pace. It’s akin to switching from EDM to a more eclectic playlist, allowing for deeper creative exploration.

Connected Rooks: Strategizing in the Sunshine

Client: Skufca Farms

This label design captures the whimsical charm of my buddy Joe Skufca’s happy chickens as they dance and relax by the pool. This playful illustration brings to life the joy and carefree spirit of farm life, showcasing the chickens enjoying their sunny day in a vibrant, inviting setting. The chickens are a delightful representation of the connection between nature and leisure, inviting customers to experience the joy of fresh, farm-raised eggs.
