Complicated Simplification: Ink and Watercolor Beer Sketches
Client: Self-Initiated
In the realm where the rook wields a frothy mug and the pawn sips on a golden nectar, this collection of hand-drawn ink and watercolor beer sketches emerges as a collection of cunning maneuvers. Each piece is a meticulously crafted square on a grand chessboard, where the pieces are not made of wood or ivory, but of vibrant hues and delicate brushstrokes that bring to life the diverse world of beer, mostly from Colorado.
The collection is a game of contrasts, where the light and airy beers dance like bishops in a sunlit cathedral, their colors blending seamlessly like a well-executed en passant. The use of watercolor adds a fluidity to the sketches, mirroring the effervescence of the beers themselves. The ink outlines provide structure, much like the rules of chess, while the watercolor infuses each piece with life and movement, reflecting the unpredictable nature of a well-poured brew.
As one explores this collection, they are not merely viewing art; they are engaging in a strategic battle of flavors, where each sketch is a move in a larger game, leading the viewer on a journey through the complex and captivating world of beer design.
Royal Pieces: Pathways to Possibilities
Client: The Basketball Social House
This strategic facilities map I designed for the Basketball Social House serves as a grand chessboard of athletic entertainment. Like a well-planned chess opening, the layout presents a clear and engaging view of the venue’s various “pieces” – each area representing a different facet of the basketball experience.
The map’s design, with its bold colors and clean lines, mirrors the precision of a chess player’s calculated moves. Each section, from the courts to the social areas, is strategically placed, allowing visitors to navigate the space as if they were maneuvering pieces across a board. The color-coded zones act as distinct territories, much like the different squares on a chessboard, guiding players and spectators to their desired destinations with the ease of a grandmaster plotting their next move.
Just as chess combines strategy with social interaction, this map showcases how the Basketball Social House integrates competitive play with communal spaces, creating a venue where every visitor can find their perfect position, whether they’re making power moves on the court or enjoying a strategic timeout in the social areas.
