Opening Strategies: Design with Vision
My journey at Dazzle began when I was taking a break from design to work as a line cook; a pawn navigating a new career path on the chessboard of life. However, like a piece drawn to its natural square, I soon found myself back again in the familiar territory of graphic design. I cut my teeth on posters, honing my skills like a player perfecting their opening moves, which laid the groundwork for my strategic approach to visual communication. As the game progressed, I advanced my style to screens, much like a knight leaping over obstacles to reach new, advantageous positions. This shift allowed me to expand my creative territory and influence.
My design philosophy emerged as a carefully crafted strategy, each element precisely placed like pieces on a chessboard. Photography serves as the king of my visual arsenal, central and commanding, while a limited color palette acts as a queen’s gambit of hues, powerful in its restraint. Provocative graphics function as bold bishops, cutting diagonally across the viewer’s attention, and minimalist design serves as rooks, clearing the board of clutter. Typography-based composition transforms pawns into queens, elevating text to a starring role.
Absolute Pin: Tri Arts Brand
As the central graphic designer for TriArts, I developed a comprehensive identity system that includes a striking logo, business cards, letterhead, and brochures. The logo serves as the king on the branding chessboard, setting the tone for the entire visual strategy. Each component plays a strategic role, much like chess pieces working together to achieve victory.
The business cards act as nimble knights, facilitating quick introductions and networking opportunities, while the letterhead provides a solid foundation for professional communication, akin to a rook’s steadfastness. The brochures, versatile like a queen, engage various audiences and showcase Tri Arts’ offerings effectively.
Through careful design choices, I ensured that every element harmonizes to strengthen the brand’s presence, positioning Tri Arts to checkmate the competition and establish itself as a leader in its field.
