Dark Pawns & Inky Knights: My Drawlloween Gambit

Client: Self-Initiated

Like pieces on a haunted chessboard, this year’s Drawlloween figures moved through the shadows in ways both calculated and chaotic. Each drawing served as a nightly gambit in MabGraves’ ghoulish game, from the opening sketches of spooky season to the endgame’s darkest delights. As October’s pawns advanced day by day, my sketchbook transformed into a checkered realm of midnight musings and eerie encounters. Through MabGraves’ masterful prompts, my art danced like a dark knight across the board, capturing moments of macabre magic and sinister whimsy. Each illustration was both a move and a countermove in this grand Halloween tournament, where creativity and spookiness played to a delightfully spine-chilling stalemate.

Black Queen: Sookie

Client: Self-Initiated

Like a black queen ruling her checkered kingdom, Sookie moves through life with the practiced grace of a seasoned player. This elder stateswoman of the household commands her domain with regal authority, occasionally deploying bratty gambits just to keep her devoted subjects (that’s me) on their toes. Her obsidian fur gleams like polished ebony chess pieces in the sunlight, and though she may sometimes play the role of a mischievous pawn, she remains the undisputed monarch of my heart.
