Winning Position: Crafting Impactful Designs

Client: Meals on Wheels

Since 2013, I’ve had the incredible opportunity to serve as the graphic designer for Nourish Meals on Wheels, and what a journey it has been!

Throughout these years, I’ve poured my creativity into their annual theater night, crafting everything from vibrant posters to engaging social media content. One piece that stands out is the poster for “Sister Act.” Its lively design features a playful nun with her convent consort, in a minimalist fashion that perfectly capture the show’s fun and energetic vibe. The bold typography adds an extra layer of excitement, inviting everyone to join in on the fun.

Working with Nourish has been more than just a design gig; it’s been a rewarding experience that allowed me to blend my passion for art with a meaningful mission. Each project has been a chance to tell a story and connect with the community, making this collaboration a truly enriching part of my creative journey.

Pawns Unite: Retail Investors Checkmate Wall Street

During the COVID-19 pandemic, I found myself drawn into the GameStop saga, a wild ride that captured the attention of many investors, including myself. On the day it peaked, Robinhood unexpectedly froze my account, leaving me feeling cornered, much like a chess player caught in a checkmate. Despite that setback, I’ve remained steadfast, holding my position for four years now!

In honor of the second anniversary of this financial rollercoaster, I decided to channel my experience into art. I drew this cheeky little character as a playful nod to the resilience of retail investors like myself. It captures the spirit of determination that defined the GameStop movement—a true David-versus-Goliath story where we stood our ground against powerful financial institutions.

Tempo: Resonant Design Solutions

Client: Meals on Wheels

Here’s another visual creation I crafted during my collaboration with Nourish Meals on Wheels, showcasing my design for their annual theater night. This partnership allowed me to deploy my creative arsenal across a range of mediums, much like a chess player utilizing various pieces on the board to execute a strategic plan.

From striking posters and delightful invitations to polished programs and engaging social media content, each design was meticulously crafted to resonate with the audience, akin to positioning pieces for maximum impact. This experience not only enabled me to explore my artistic vision but also deepened my commitment to meaningful design that drives positive change.

The poster for “Hairspray” embodies this spirit, featuring bold colors and dynamic typography that capture the vibrant energy of the production. Each design element is thoughtfully arranged, drawing viewers in like a well-executed checkmate that leaves them eager for more. This project exemplifies how effective design can not only captivate but also inspire action, proving that creativity can be a powerful ally in serving the community.
